work and inspiration

Ralph Steadman is certainly an influence on me at this moment. To have the amount of free will in what he has designed, to me that's an inspiration. Ralph Steadman often followed Hunter S. Thompson, while documenting Thompson's events as a writer, through his art. I feel that his style is very messy yet aesthetically pleasing.

To put it bluntly, Salvador Dali is very much one of my favorite Artists. I have always been quite attracted to the eeriness of his paintings. To have such a crystal clear imagination of something that could never be displayed in reality, is something I appreciate about Surrealist paintings, especially salvador Dali.

Akira is an animated sci-fi film from Japan. The movie was released in 1988. Akira is the first animated film I've ever seen. My father rented it when I was really young, so at that point the style of the movie was very new and intriguing, because it is not a film for kids. The movie is quite psychedelic at parts. The artistic detail that goes into each scene is phenomenal. There is always something new to look at when you watch it.
This piece was completed using Japanese bamboo brush , ink, and oil pastels. It was made in reference to a short story for Critical Inquiry. If there was something I could change about this piece, I would make more of a differentiation between the character and the background.
This was a project for a digital class at my community college. We were to design a poster for a movie or a concert. I chose to design a poster for an animated film. I used Illustrator as my media. If I had to change something about it, I wouldn't have created the toxic barrel with gradient, because other than the fog, it is the only object with gradient.
This is a Design I had done somewhat recently for a co workers band. It was done using Photoshop. If I had to improve the design, I would probably add a few more items, symmetrically, to flow with the other forms. I think this might give the whole design a more explosive feel to it.
